Creating a Punch List Item



Inspectors and contractors can easily create punch list items by logging issues or snags found during inspections via Punch List. These items are identified as new tasks visible to the Project Manager for prompt attention.

Before proceeding with the punch list, below is an outline of the punch list form that provides a clear overview of each section to guide you through the process:

Punchlist Details SectionDescription
Choose a FileTake a photo or attach a photo.
DescriptionProvide a brief description of the item.
Task CategoryIndicate which category where the punch list item will be included.
PrioritySet the priority level of the punch list task.
Due DateDue date by which the item needs to be completed.
RemarksAdditional information, if any.


Other Details SectionDescription
Drawing NameIndicate the name of the drawing where the punch list task occurs.
Drawing VersionIndicate the version of the drawing being referred to.

Inspection ID---


There are two ways to access the punch list module: via the Form and via the Drawings module.

Method 1: Via Punch List Form on Mobile

Log in to Steer and select the project where you want to submit a punch list item, you may also use the Search bar to look for it.

Click the plus sign button to begin creating a punch list item.

Select Punchlist then it will prompt you to take a picture of a stock photo of a punch list item.

On the Punch List form, enter a Subject. Then fill out the fields in the Punch List Details section.

Select the Task Category, Priority level and the Due Date. Fill in the Remarks, if any.

Fill out the fields for the Other Details section.

Drawing Name
Drawing Version
Inspection Request
Inspection ID

Once you are finished, click on Submit. This will create a new item under the Task Management workflow.

Method 2: Via Drawings

Log in to Steer and select the project where you want to submit a punch list item.

On the sidebar (Project Dashboard > Sidebar), select Drawings.

Select a specific plan or folder to view where the punch list item will be submitted. Here, you will find several trades listed.

Click on the relevant Trade or Drawing to view its full layout.

In the layout view, locate the Punch List tab.

On the toolbar, click the Ticket icon. This allows the Inspector or Contractor to pin an area on the drawing to create a punch list task.

Click on the drawing at the area where the punch list task needs to be addressed.

Once you click on that area, a punch list ticket will appear.

On the Punch List form, fill out the fields in the Punch List Details section and Other Details section.

Once you are finished, click on Submit Ticket. This will create a new item under the Task Management workflow.

Note: Created punch list items that are not yet pinned to drawing can be pinned.
